Last year in 2015 Dave released his first new solo full length since 2009’s Lone Survivor. Entitled Heart’s Desire, the disc is Dave’s trademark lethal amalgamation of rock and roll with a touch of country and a dash of the blues. Choosing songs that Mr. Edwards has always wanted to cover, this project is the labor of love that you would expect. Bob Monteleone produced, engineered and performed on every track – which includes 2 duets. The first duet is with Michigan legend Jill Jack doing the Tanya Tucker hit
“Tell Me About It ” and it smokes right down the line.
The second duet - from the pen of Sam Cooke – is “Bring It On Home To Me”. Dave recorded this one with pal Jimmie Bones from The Twisted Brown Trucker Band on vocals, piano & organ! “Bring It On Home To Me” which was released at the end of 2014 was nominated for a 2015 Detroit Music Award for Rock Recording of the Year!!! Dave has been nominated 9 times and has not won yet - it’s still nice to be acknowledged.
There are many additional highlights on the Heart’s Desire as well. “Angel Eyes” is possibly the best ballad that Dave has recorded – an emotive standout, “Shape I’m In” which has been opening up most of the 2015 shows is a barn burner and features Dave’s current live band. Later in the record the title track “Heart’s Desire” features April Monteleone on background vocals and it’s a winner deep cut. The album closes with a traditional Gospel track that is unlike anything that Dave Edwards has ever recorded – “ Nobody Knows The Troubles That I’ve Seen”. The arrangement comes from Sam Cooke’s classic Night Beat and it closes the record and the era of ten years since Dave released his first solo album Take Another Look in 2004.
Johnny Bee Badanjek – legendary drummer and noted artist, painted the front cover of Take Another Look and this time – 10 years later – painted a photo of Dave for Heart’s Desire. Full circle.
Dave Edwards and his live band (known as both The Look and the Dave Edwards Band) are looking forward to a full schedule of concerts, festivals and more in 2015 with a noted appearance opening night at the Windsor, OT Bluesfest on Friday July 10 th.
If you haven’t seen or heard Dave and the band in a while: This is the time!

DAVE EDWARDS continues to perform an average of 40 shows a year both with his band, THE LOOK and with THE BELLE ISLANDERS.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE (original) LOOK? Spotty record distribution, confusing management and recording deals helped kill the momentum and development of The Look’s career. The original band members went their separate ways.
Dave Edwards retained the name The Look and began performing with rotating sidemen performing the hits of The Look and peppered them with classic covers from The Rockets, Bob Seger & The Romantics (bands you couldn’t see up close too often) – as well as classics of Rod Stewart, Van Morrison, Bryan Adams, The Rolling Stones and lots of Motown.
In 2004, Dave Edwards began a remarkable and noteworthy solo career recording TAKE ANOTHER LOOK with not only a musical contribution from famed Detroit musicians Johnny “Bee” Badanjek & Jim McCarty, but also Bee, a noted artist, painted and contributed the artwork for the cover.
The next release came in 2007, Dave released an EP entitled SECOND LOOK Volume 1, a series he hopes to revisit from time to time. The first volume featured 3 newly recorded tracks, including a duet on The Box Tops’ “Soul Deep” with the great Shaun Murphy. In 2008, Dave and Bob Monteleone put together The Belle Islanders - a reggae roots band with former members of Detroit’s premier reggae band Black Market. They released their self-titled debut in May, 2008.
In May of 2009 Dave released LONE SURVIVOR, his second full length CD. Lone Survivor featured many special guests including Johnny “Bee” Badanjek (Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, Alice Cooper, The Rockets), Jimmie “Bones” Trombly (Kid Rock’s Twisted Brown Trucker Band, Howling Diablos) and Black Market & The Look’s alumni Bob Monteleone who also produced the CD. The original song “It’s Written All Over Your Face” was recorded at Harmonie Park Studios and was mixed by Los Angeles engineer the Grammy nominated Tony Ugval. Tony continues to work with Dave to this day.
“It’s Written All Over Your Face " received a Detroit Music Award nomination, for Outstanding Country Recording. The same year, Dave also received another Detroit Music Award Nomination for Outstanding National Indie Label Artist/Group.
In the fall of 2009, Dave recorded “”It’s Christmas Time” (written by Bob) for the Christmas In Detroit compilation. Dave and Bob performed the song live on WDIV-TV during the Thanksgiving Day Parade – seen by millions!
In October 2011, under the moniker THE DAVE EDWARDS BAND, Dave released PICKIN’ SINGLES. A digital only release, Pickin’ Singles was a tribute to the roots sound and style of Buddy Holly & The Everly Brothers. Dave choose this opportunity to record the originals “Rock N Roll Fever”, “I’m Wonderin;”, “I Just Don’t Know What To Do” and “I Found Love” – along side a tender re-working of “Can’t Think Right” (from The Look’s very first LP) and a raucous take on “Be Good To Yourself” by Frankie Miller. Guests on this record include Jimmie Bones, Mark Iannice from The Jill Jack Band and Larry LeBeck (Orbitsuns) on pedal steel!
In 2012 & 2013, Dave made (2) music videos – for the tracks “I Found Love” and “Rock N Roll Fever” which have been seen in over 70 million television households as well as programmed in lifestyle & retail locations such as Wendy’s, Harley Davidson, Princess Cruise Ships, JC Penney’s and hundreds of health clubs & independent retailers all over the USA!
2012 also saw the release of the DAVE EDWARDS BAND’S THE RED LIGHT IS ON – Live on WHFR. This live radio broadcast was recorded in 1 take and acts as a “Sonic Bio” of Dave’s entire career. Acoustic band performances and interview segments make up this collection.
In August 2013,The Belle Islanders released their second CD entitled NOTHING’S GONNA STOP US with lead off track “Dream Lover” airing on WCSX and Dave’s take on the jubilant sing along “Montego Bay” being embraced by WDET. The album and the band are nominated for two 2014 Detroit Music awards ...
